Your mission

At Checkmk we operate a complex infrastructure spanning on-prem systems, cloud environments, containers and corporate IT. We are looking for a deeply technical engineer who shapes our infrastructure together with the team.

This is not a purely operational role. It is a hands-on technical leadership role where you help design, evolve and guide the architecture of our infrastructure together with the team.

You will work across many areas of IT – from servers and networking to cloud platforms and endpoint management – and help us build robust, scalable, secure and automated systems.

Your responsibilities

Design and evolve the technical architecture of our infrastructure
Lead technical discussions and guide architectural decisions
Work closely with the infrastructure team to design and implement solutions
Build and improve automation and infrastructure as code
Help solve complex technical problems across multiple systems
Evaluate and introduce new technologies where appropriate
Ensure systems are reliable, secure and maintainable
Contribute to documentation and technical standards

You will work across areas such as:

on-prem infrastructure
Linux servers and virtualization
networking and security
container platforms
cloud environments
endpoint management and patching
automation and infrastructure as code

Your profile

We are looking for an engineer with a broad infrastructure background and strong technical curiosity.

Senior System Administrator
Infrastructure Engineer
Platform Engineer
DevOps Engineer with strong infrastructure focus

You should bring:

strong experience designing, building and operating infrastructure architectures
experience with automation and infrastructure as code
proven networking and security knowledge
experience with cloud infrastructure and operating hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
the ability to deep dive into complex technical topics
experience guiding technical discussions within a team
broad technical interest across infrastructure topics
pragmatic problem-solving skills
